Get ready to get your snark on, Valentine’s Day haters. During this, the season of love, Logitech has released results from a new survey that reveals a big chunk of tablet users would kick their partners out of bed before their devices.

Conducted by Wakefield Research, the survey was conducted online and based on responses from 2,000 adults ages 18 and older across four different countries — the U.S., U.K., France and Germany. The results suggest some pretty hardcore attachment to tablets. While it’s no surprise that 93 percent of U.S. participants use their tablet in bed, overall more than a third (37 percent) prefer waking up with their iPad over last night’s date. (Ouch.)

Breaking that down further, 48 percent of single American women would rather spend the next morning with their iPad than their date, compared to 25 percent of single men. Not sure what that’s supposed to say about tablets or the state of hooking up these days.

Additionally, 74 percent think it’s acceptable to use their iPad after being intimate. But romance isn’t completely lost in this survey: About one in five (or 21 percent) have actually damaged their tablet or smartphone while getting intimate.

When it comes to love and romance, you’d think France would have the U.S. beat. But here’s a surprising turn: In that “Land of L’Amour,” 45 percent of respondents said breaking their iPad was just as upsetting as a relationship break-up. The figure was 43 percent in the U.S., 35 in the U.K., and 27 in Germany.

The takeaway? If you’ve got a significant other, don’t buy a tablet as a Valentine’s Day gift — not unless you want competition. (Try one of these great ideas instead.)
