See full gallery on TechnoBuffaloAdult Swim and Toonami announced huge news last night for FLCL fans. The six-episode anime is set to get a sequel in the form of two brand new seasons.
FLCL seasons two and three are being produced by Toonami and Production I.G.. The latter, of course, worked on the original six-episode OVA. Production I.G. actually worked with Gainax on the original series, though there’s been no news of Gainax’s involvement with this sequel.
The word came from Toonami in a single Facebook post. Here’s what they offered:
Toonami is proud to announce an original co-prodution with legendary studio, Production I.G, “FLCL” seasons 2 and 3! That’s right, we are producing 12 new FLCL episodes to be split into two seasons, and serve as a sequel to the original classic, FLCL! Stay tuned for more info when we have it!
We have no timeline for release at this point. Stay tuned for more.
