See full gallery on TechnoBuffaloAfter becoming the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time—surpassing The Matrix Reloaded—it sounds like Ryan Reynolds is once again ready to suit up as the Merc With A Mouth. Gee, it’s not like the actor spent years trying to get the movie made, and one “accidentally” leaked test footage later and the film has bagged nearly $800 million worldwide—on a $58 million budget!
Reynolds took a huge pay cut to get Deadpool off the ground—in the vicinity of $2 million, which is low by leading Hollywood man standards. But given how successful the movie has become, I’m sure Fox did whatever it took to secure his services for the sequel. I mean, we pretty much already knew a second film would happen, it just all depended on whether or not Reynolds wanted to do it.
Production for the sequel is expected to kick off this fall, with what I’d assume to be a late 2017, early 2018 release. It’s unclear where Deadpool might go from here. Rumor has it Cable will be a big focus of the sequel while another report claimed Domino could make an appearance as well.
