Netflix said this week that more of its titles are gaining HDR support, aimed at providing viewers with a more visually dynamic experience. If your screen supports the technology, HDR content will have greater depth, including detail in dark scenes and an improved color range closer to what our eyes see. Perfect for a series such as Daredevil, which is dark and moody, but uses specific colors to convey emotions.
Over 100 hours of HDR programming will be added by August for a total of 150 hours by the end of 2016. Below are the titles that will have HDR support:
- A Series of Unfortunate Events
- Bloodline
- Chef’s Table
- Hibana
- Knights of Sidonia
- Marvel’s Daredevil
- Marvel’s Iron Fist
- Marvel’s Jessica Jones
- Marvel’s Luke Cage
- Marvel’s The Defenders
- The Do-Over
- The Ridiculous Six
Makes sense for Netflix to add HDR to some of its most visually appealing shows. That means when Luke Cage comes out later this year, fans will get the best possible experience right away; same goes for Iron Fist. You can currently view HDR content through Samsung, LG and Vizio HDR televisions, among others.
