Greetings, fellow Spotify users! I come bearing bad news. The music streaming service has been breached. If you have a username and password for Spotify, regardless of whether or not you’re a premium subscriber, you should consider changing your login on the site and elsewhere if you use those same credentials in multiple locations.
The Hacker News indicates that hundreds of accounts, “including emails, usernames, passwords and account type,” were posted on Pastebin.
However, TechCrunch received a denial of the breach from Spotify. Here’s that statement.
“Spotify has not been hacked and our user records are secure. We monitor Pastebin and other sites regularly. When we find Spotify credentials, we first verify that they are authentic, and if they are, we immediately notify affected users to change their passwords.”
TechCrunch has it from multiple users that profiles were taken and login info changed, in spite of Spotify’s denial. If that’s happened to you, contact Spotify support immediately.
Best change your logins just to be safe, right?
