They already saved the galaxy, so what’s up next for Star-Lord and his motley crew of guardians? According to Micechat, they’re going to take over Disney’s Tower of Terror.
Disney reportedly has plans to overlay the famous ride, which is based around The Twilight Zone, and dress it up as something straight out of Guardians of the Galaxy. The ride itself will allegedly still involve a drop tower-style structure, but reconfigure to feature a story about the guardians doing something good and something bad.
Obviously, such an extensive makeover will involve completely revamping the inside and outside of the ride, which will reportedly take Disney several months. If all goes according to plan, however, the Guardians ride could open as soon as May 2017, which is when the upcoming sequel hits theaters.
If true, Tower of Terror at Disney’s California Adventure in Anaheim, California will be the location of the makeover, making it one of the first Marvel-themed ride in Disney’s arsenal. Disneyland already has Marvel-themed attractions, so it makes sense the company would want to explore integrating the property into more areas of its parks.
The Twilight Zone certainly has its appeal, but with geek culture at its apex, it makes sense for Disney to explore other opportunities, particularly since Guardians of the Galaxy is so universally beloved by fans. This rumor comes in addition to Disney’s Star Wars Land, which is currently under construction in Anaheim.
