The big villain in Justice League Part One apparently won’t be who you think, though a new report claims one of DC’s most infamous characters will indeed get some much-needed backstory.
Note that there are potential spoilers ahead.
According to Heroic Hollywood, Darkseid will indeed show up in the movie, and not just at the end, but at the beginning, too.
“Around 30,000 years ago, the Amazonians, the Atlanteans, and Man (humans) successfully fought off Darkseid here on Earth,” wrote Heroic Hollywood’s Umberto Gonzalez. “He left three motherboxes behind and that folks is what Steppenwolf is after in Justice League Part One. That is pretty much your plot.”
Steppenwolf was already shown with the three motherboxes in a deleted Batman v Superman scene called Communion. Why would he still be after the motherboxes in Justice League if he already had them in Batman v Superman? It doesn’t really add up, though we do get more confirmation of reports claiming Steppenwolf will be the big baddie in Justice League Part One, not Darkseid.
It sounds like Darkseid’s presence will be made clear but he’ll use Steppenwolf as a pawn to do his dirty work. That’s not unlike what we’ve seen in the MCU with Thanos using Ronan to retrieve the Power stone.
Filming for Justice League is already well underway, so expect plenty of additional rumors to come through the pipeline over the coming months. Justice League Part One is currently scheduled for a Nov. 17, 2017 release.
