sorry

Hey look at that, the producers behind HBO’s Game of Thrones have issued an apology for the episode that aired on Sunday.

Warning: Don’t read on if you don’t like spoilers.

OK, by now you know that Jon Snow died again. (I’m just kidding, I’m trying to create another buffer for folks who can’t help but continue reading after the spoiler warning). Alright, back to the the real story.

On Sunday, Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss decided to kill off Hodor, the lovable beast of a man who spoke only his name “Hodor” in conversation. I still haven’t watched the episode, but I couldn’t avoid the spoilers myself and already read about what happens. Following the death, Weiss and Benioff appeared on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live to issue an apology.

“We’d like to apologize for Sunday’s episode,” Weiss said, sitting with Benioff on a couch full of cash. “Not for killing Hodor, we kill a lot of main characters, we’re sorry for all the idiots who from now on will be shouting ‘Hodor!’ every time they go through a door. That’s our bad.”

Of course, this has already started, with folks placing Hodor stickers on the open door button on elevators, essentially “Holding the Door” or… “Hodor!”

RIP Hodor.
