We’re still 17 long months away from the release of Justice League, but Warner Bros. has already released a ton of new information about the upcoming superhero event film. For starters, we have an official logo—in two colors!—plus an official synopsis for the film, which describes the team coming together to fight a “newly awakened threat.”
Here’s the official synopsis:
Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
Note that there are a few spoilers ahead.
Two things: A threat is coming but we don’t know what, and Superman isn’t among the group being assembled. According to previous rumors, Steppenwolf, not Darkseid, is expected to be the big baddie in Justice League, so he’ll be the one threatening to destroy the planet. Meanwhile, although the end of Batman v Superman hinted Superman is alive, it doesn’t sound like he’ll feature in Justice League—at least not initially.
Justice League doesn’t come out until Nov. 17, 2017, which means we’re several months away from knowing how this will all shake out. Until then, check out the new logos above, along with a cool shot of a slightly redesigned Batmobile.
