Unless you own a special encyclopedia, keeping up with Game of Thrones can be hard, impossible even. There are so many characters and so many cities, not to mention the hard-to-pronounce names, that keeping track of what’s up or down can seem like trying to master calculus. Luckily, we have Samuel L. Jackson to help explain what’s going on.

HBO this week released a “beginner’s guide” video that touches upon all the important moments in Game of Thrones, from season one all the way up to season six. The resulting recap might just be Jackson’s best work yet.
If you’re unfamiliar with the world of Game of Thrones, there could be no better guide than Jackson, whose inimitable style makes easy work of the complex world created by author George R.R. Martin. Even if you know the story like the back of your hand, Jackson’s recap is immensely entertaining.
