Among a barrage of Guardians of the Galaxy news this Saturday, Marvel officially unveiled plans for Guardians of the Galaxy—Mission: Breakout, a ride that will replace Tower of Terror at the California Adventure theme park in Anaheim, California. The ride is described by Marvel as a “comically high-energy, rocking new adventure.”
You can see the first concept art for the attraction above, which will apparently find the Guardians displayed in The Collector’s collection.
Here’s what Marvel said about what riders will experience:
Deep inside his fortress-like collection, the mysterious Taneleer Tivan (aka The Collector) is displaying his newest acquisitions, the Guardians of the Galaxy. They are trapped in customized display cases, suspended over a vast abyss. Unbeknownst to their unscrupulous captor, the intrepid Rocket has escaped and is enlisting the Collector’s VIP guests for help. Guests board a gantry lift, which launches them into a chaotic and hilarious adventure as they join Rocket in an attempt to break his fellow Guardians out of captivity.
The Guardians ride will find guests experiencing “multiple random, unique ride profiles” and use the movie’s infectious soundtrack to help complement the adventure. It’ll apparently be the first of many Marvel attractions coming to Disney California Adventure over the coming years. Guardians—Mission: Breakout is scheduled to open summer 2017.
