Everyone’s favorite cosmic smuggler is getting his own spinoff movie in 2018, but rumor has it we could see Alden Ehrenreich’s young Han Solo as early as this year’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Let me stop you right there, though, because director Gareth Edwards recently confirmed Han Solo is most definitely not in the movie.
While speaking to ExtraTV during last week’s Star Wars Celebration, Edwards gave his definitive answer.
“I’m not sure if I’m allowed to do this but I think I should,” Edwards said. “I can put to bed, Han Solo’s not in the movie.”
It doesn’t get much more straightforward than that.
Although Han Solo isn’t going to show up in Rogue One, we do know that Darth Vader will indeed be a key figure in the upcoming film. Oh, and in case you were wondering, Hayden Christensen, who played Anakin Skywalker in the prequel trilogy, will not appear in Rogue One either.
