Don’t worry, Marvel has already confirmed new seasons for Jessica Jones and Daredevil. Unfortunately, it’ll be a while before they hit Netflix, CEO Ted Sarandos implied at a recent press event.
Because Marvel is sticking to a schedule of two Netflix shows a year—at least for the foreseeable future—that means we probably won’t get Jessica Jones and Daredevil until 2018 at the earliest. That’s a long time to wait between seasons, especially for fans of Jessica Jones, which came out at the end of 2015. Daredevil season 2, meanwhile, came out a few months ago.
The approach isn’t unlike what Marvel has been doing with its movies, although next year will see the studio move to three films a year—Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Thor: Ragnarok—not two. Will Marvel ever move to a similar schedule on Netflix? One can only hope.
Later this year, fans will get Luke Cage on Sept. 30, followed by Iron Fist and The Defenders in 2017.
