Jared Leto already wants to play Joker again

You’ve probably heard a story or two about Jared Leto’s rabid commitment to his role as Joker. The actor sent his fellow cast odd gifts, prepped in bizarre ways and never broke character while filming was ongoing—even when cameras weren’t rolling. That’s dedication to an extreme and something that likely took a toll both physically and mentally. Leto says he wants more.

While speaking to the Toronto Sun, the actor admitted he’d love to play the role again, saying he’d especially love to tangle with Ben Affleck’s Batman. That’s something I’d absolutely pay to see.

I hope Suicide Squad is an introduction and not the end! Because I could easily just play the Joker a couple more times and then retire. Because it’s so fulfilling and so creative and it’s so imaginative. It’s really difficult to think about doing anything else! I think it would be incredible to see Batman and the Joker go head-to-head! This Batman and this Joker. I mean, I don’t know, that might be too much! But that would be fun.

While Warner Bros. hasn’t announced plans for Leto’s Joker to show up in any future films, one has to imagine the studio is keeping its options open. If Suicide Squad does well—reports say it’s tracking for a huge opening weekend—there’s a very good chance we’ll see many of these characters again, whether it’s Joker, Harley Quinn or Will Smith’s Deadshot.

We know that Ben Affleck is getting his own solo Batman movie, which could be the perfect place for these baddies to show up. A recent rumor claimed the Dark Knight could find himself inside Arkham Asylum, complete with the classic Rogues Gallery. If true, there’s a very high probability Leto’s job as Joker will be safe at least a few more movies.
