Justice League cast motivated by Suicide Squad hate says Ezra Miller

Just because they’re mighty onscreen doesn’t mean they’re immune to criticism off. Despite a record-breaking opening weekend, Suicide Squad was largely panned by critics, leading some people to believe the greater DCEU is in big trouble.

But according to actor Ezra Miller, who plays the cinematic version of the Flash, the negative reviews are only serving as motivation.

“You needn’t look any further than the Suicide Squad director and cast response to the negative reviews to feel how negative critiques motivate us,” Miller said to MTV. “Ultimately, we can’t base anything on negative reviews. As artists, we aim to please absolutely everybody with our work, but we also know that we have to keep expressing ourselves as best as we can express ourselves.”

The silver lining here is that Miller and the teams of people working on these movies seem well aware of how people are responding to the films, which is, in turn, motivating them to improve the work they put out. It’s also bringing the Justice League actors closer together, which is currently filming in London. When you have a united Justice League, good things happen.

Based on the early footage we’ve seen of Zack Snyder’s Justice League, things are shaping up nicely. Let’s hope all this motivation results in a movie that’s liked by both fans and critics when it releases late next year.
