At a special screening yesterday of JOBS, Ashton Kutcher answered questions from the audience, discussing his transformation into Steve Jobs and what it taught him about Apple’s visionary founder and former CEO.

For three months, Kutcher prepared for the role both mentally and physically, which meant learning to move and act like Jobs. Specifically, he spent a lot of time studying Jobs’ unique manner of lifting his feet while walking, which he attributes to the sometimes eccentric CEO’s practice of walking barefoot while doing his best to avoid constantly stubbing his toes.

Of course, Kutcher went beyond mimicking mere physical appearance, immersing himself in Jobs’ world by reading the books and listening to the music that he loved in an effort to understand Jobs’ unique aesthetic style. The experience was clearly an intense one for Kutcher, who said, “I loved a man I never knew.”

JOBS stars Josh Gad, James Woods, Dermot Mulroney, Matthew Modine, Lukas Hass and Ahna O’Reilly alongside Ashton Kutcher. The film first debuted at the Sundance Film Festival, and is set for wide release on Aug. 16.
