Marvel already provided an explanation as to why Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster won’t be in Thor: Ragnarok. Now, the actor has provided an update on her future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a whole, telling The Wall Street Journal that she’s “done.”
Portman’s last appearance as Foster came in 2013’s Thor: The Dark World, where she traveled to Asgard and made Sif, an Asgardian warrior, all kinds of jealous.
“As far as I know, I’m done,” Portman said. “I don’t know if maybe one day they’ll ask for an Avengers 7 or whatever, I have no idea. But, as far as I know, I’m done.”
That’s unfortunate because the astrophysicist developed an important relationship with Thor. Foster was mentioned in Avengers: Age of Ultron but only as a way to explain why she wasn’t around. It sounds like as Thor’s adventures take him to the cosmos, Foster won’t even be involved at all.
There’s always a chance Marvel will include Portman in future movies but based on her comments, that’s looking exceedingly unlikely.
