Google rolled out a massive update today for Zagat—which the search giant acquired in 2011 after its $500 million bid for Yelp was rejected—introducing a new website as well as mobile apps for Android and iOS. The revamped Zagat is also opening up its full library of ratings and reviews for free with no registration required for the first time ever.

Other features introduced with the new Zagat include written news updates, listicles (article lists), and video content covering restaurants and nightspots produced by local editors. It also includes enhanced search and mapping tools integrated with Google’s Search and Maps.

Google appears focused on bringing Zagat into the mobile age without sacrificing its 34 years of tradition, content and a committed user base. The restaurant-rating publication currently covers nine cities in the U.S. and plans to expand to 50 around the world while expanding its scope to include shopping, hotels and other places of interest.
