Twitter is reportedly testing a new feature that will more prominently feature trending TV shows right in your timeline. According to a TechCrunch reader, the Twitter cards recommend a trending show based on how many times it’s mentioned by users; the card also shows when that show last aired, what network, and guests (if any) on that show. In the example shown above, the card displays what happened on the previous night’s Jimmy Kimmel Live.

While the card clearly demonstrates the suggestion is based on trending tweets, it’s unclear if shows are also recommended on an individual basis. So, for example, if you consistently talk about Breaking Bad on your feed, will Twitter show you a trending card for that show, and shows similar to it?

The cards are clearly quite large, though you’re able to dismiss them once they’re in your feed. Twitter has not made any formal announcements about the new TV-focused cards, so we’re not sure if the feature is still being tested or if the social network is slowly rolling it out across the board. Twitter has proven a hotbed for knee jerk reactions when it comes to TV, so the new cards should fit right in.
