Vincent D’Onofrio’s portrayal of Kingpin was one of the best parts of Marvel’s Daredevil. He exemplified the character’s complex, brooding, and violent qualities, stealing every scene he was in by adding a sense of dread to even the most mundane encounters.
Possible spoilers ahead.
At the end of the Daredevil season one, Kingpin is captured and locked up but doesn’t appear in the second season of the show. Fans hoping to see Kingpin again will be happy to hear Marvel does have plans to bring the character back at some point in the future. When? D’Onofrio wasn’t able to share.
There’s no giant commitment for me at Daredevil. Like I didn’t have to sign my life away at all. When [head of Marvel Television] Jeff Loeb tells me there’s something coming up and if I’m available, I’ll be there. And because it’s written so well, I’m going to show up.
More directly, D’Onofrio said he does know when Kingpin’s story will be continued, but wasn’t able to divulge that information.
There are a few possibilities for when Kingpin could show up down the road. After Iron Fist, the four heroes are going to team up in The Defenders, which is shooting right now. There’s also going to be a third season of Daredevil, while Netflix has announced a season for The Punisher.
For now, fans of Marvel’s content on Netflix have Luke Cage’s solo show to look forward to, which debuts on Sept. 30.
