We already know J.K. Simmons is playing a beefed up Commissioner Gordon in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Now, get your first look at the actor playing the role, complete with a fedora and trench coat. Wonder why he’s calling for Bats?
Like all things Snyder, the image is steeped in mood and style. It’s not just Commissioner Gordon standing next to the iconic Bat signal; it’s Commissioner Gordon standing next to the Bat signal with a tarp blowing in the wind and the foreground showing everything reflected in a puddle of water.
Oh, and the image is black and white for good measure. You know, just in case you weren’t getting enough of a noir vibe.
It’s nice to see Commissioner Gordon back next to the signal. In Batman v Superman, we did see the new Batman signal used but it was only to lure Superman into a trap.
With Commissioner Gordon involved, hopefully that means some portions of Justice League will be smaller scale, focusing more deeply on Gotham City and less on leveling buildings.
It’s unlikely Gordon is bringing Batman intel on Steppenwolf, who is the big bad in Justice League. So what purpose will he serve when the movie hits?
We’ll find out when the film hits theaters on Nov. 17, 2017.
