At New York Comic Con on Friday, Netflix held a Stranger Things panel that featured the show’s Jim Hopper (David Harbour) and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown). The topic of the day: Stranger Things season 2.
There are spoilers ahead.
While no major details for the upcoming season were revealed, the cast did give fans a few hints. Like, for instance, that the show will finally give Barb her due justice.
According to Harbour, the showrunners are very aware of the internet’s outrage over Barb’s death and will address the matter accordingly.
“We do deal with the loose ends in season 2, and we do deal with some of the internet rage over Barb’s death,” Harbour told the panel’s crowd. “We will have justice for Barb’s death in some sense.”
That being said, Harbour confirmed that Barb is “very much dead,” so those hoping she’ll somehow come back to life can let it go. (She’ll live on in our hearts, however, as many people will no doubt dress up as the character this Halloween.)
Despite barely featuring in the show, fans quickly took to Barb because of her impeccable style and fervent loyalty to her friend Nancy Wheeler. Unfortunately, she met her demise after vanishing to the Upside Down.
Harbour shared a few more tidbits about season 2, saying he’d love to explore the relationship between him and Eleven, but didn’t elaborate on how that might develop.
Stranger Things season 2 is currently scheduled for a 2017 release.
