With less than two months to go before the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, marketing for the movie is starting to ramp up. Last week we got the second trailer, which was awesome, and today we get new character posters that put emphasis on the Death Star.
It’s no secret the Death Star will loom large in Rogue One, but the new posters highlight just how much will be on the line in this movie. The film takes place at the height of the Empire’s power, and the rebels are searching for answers to combat them with waning resources.
The new posters juxtapose the characters with the Death Star blueprints, which will be the main plot line of the first non-Skywalker Star Wars movie.
Jyn Erso, Cassian Andor, K-2XO, Chirrut Imwe, Bodhi Rook, Director Orson Krennic, Baze Malbus and Saw Gerrera are the primary characters featured. Disappointingly, Darth Vader isn’t featured in the posters although he made an appearance in the latest trailer.
Most of the characters featured are part of the Rebel Alliance, with only Orson Krennic a part of the Empire. The posters look pretty awesome and make great use of telling us who the main characters are while hinting at the storyline that will drive the film.
Rogue One is in theaters December 16.
The Death Star Matters in Rogue One:
The importance of the Death Star in Rogue One is already expected, and these posters continue to highlight just how big of a role it will play in the movie. The demise of the base won’t happen in the film, and the plans are eventually retrieved by the Rebel Alliance. Who knows what will happen to the characters that are featured in Rogue One?
