Aw, he’s so darn cute. If it wasn’t clear from the concept art (below), this new teaser trailer proves Baby Groot will be a scene stealer when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters next summer.
Director James Gunn shared the teaser on Wednesday, giving us a great look at the new team. Yandu (Michael Rooker) and Nebula (Karen Gillan) are new additions, completing what looks like the most dysfunctional cosmic 80s band of all-time. Obviously.
Not shown is Mantis (Pom Klementieff), who we’ve heard a lot about over the past several months. We also don’t get to see Ego (Kurt Russell), who is playing Star-Lord’s father.
There’s not much footage but it’s nice to see the group back together. Once again, it looks like there’s a nice balance between humor and action. I can’t wait to see the relationship between Peter Quill and Drax develop.
Apparently, the group will have to deal with Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki) after a job they do for her goes south.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters on May 5, 2017.
