The new Beauty and the Best trailer has already left a notable imprint: It is now the most-watched trailer ever in the first 24 hours of release. The record has fallen quite regularly over the past year given the connection of social media and its extent into our lives, but it’s still impressive.
The trailer amassed 127.6 million views across YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and other video platforms on Monday. That surpassed the record set by the Fifty Shades Darker trailer with 114 million. Before that, Star Wars: The Force Awakens held the record with 112 million views.
The trailer itself is quite dazzling. It does a great job of teasing some of the memorable elements that were present in the original animated version while delivering fantastic imagery of the characters in their new form.
The movie is generating a lot of hype and looks to be that latest hit in Disney’s arsenal.
Beauty and the Beast will be in theaters on March 17, 2017.
Beauty and the Beast solidifies Disney’s dominance
Disney has been on a tear lately with its live-action adaptions. The Jungle Book grossed nearly $1 billion worldwide earlier in the year and given the hype Beauty and the Beast is generating, it wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility surpassing that number.
Not only that, but a few weeks ago Disney claimed the record for worldwide gross for a single studio with $5.8 billion dollars in just 10 months.
