Beyond Marvel’s Phase Three plans, it’s unclear where the studio plans to go. Will Phase Four include a brand new Avengers team? Will Marvel really stop using Iron Man and Captain America? While the studio continues to figure it out, actor Vin Diesel has one suggestion that is apparently “highly possible.”

In an interview with ScreenJunkies, Diesel said there’s a very good possibility Marvel will makes a Groot-Rocket team-up movie after the next two Avengers movies are released. If true, that timeline would put the spinoff in a 2020 release slot at the earliest, which isn’t all that far away considering Marvel has eight films planned between now and then.

“I think if it’s up to James Gunn, you’re going to see a Groot-Rocket movie after Infinity Wars,” Diesel said. “That’s highly possible.”

Now, Diesel’s comments certainly aren’t definitive and it’s unlikely he’d reveal such a big project in such a off-hand manner. But there’s no arguing Groot and Rocket have become among Marvel’s most beloved duos, so a spinoff doesn’t sound completely implausible.

Diesel also said, “Somewhere in the universe, you’re going to see Groot and Hulk battle.” Another intriguing comment from the actor, who seems surprisingly candid with his Marvel information.

What about the rest of the Guardians?

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set to release next May and will feature Rocket and Baby Groot, who stole the show in the recent trailer. If a spinoff is indeed coming, what does that mean for the other Guardians? Would it be a prequel?

Marvel probably does know what it wants to do beyond Phase Three but I doubt the studio plans on sharing anything of substance anytime soon. For now, we can cling to the notion of seeing Groot and Rocket traipsing around the galaxy, almost like Han Solo and Chewbacca.
