On Saturday evening October 22, 2016, the LBJ Presidential Library held a sneak peek of Rob Reiner's new film LBJ, starring Woody Harrelson as the 36th president. The film, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, chronicles the life and times of Lyndon Johnson who would inherit the presidency at one of the most fraught moments in American history. In addition to seeing how a younger Han Solo meets the galaxy’s most famous Wookiee, the upcoming Star Wars spinoff will also show another important figure in the character’s life.

According to sources speaking to Variety, Woody Harrelson is in talks to play the mentor of a younger Han Solo, who is set to be played by Alden Ehrenreich. Beyond that, Variety doesn’t provide any details though the site does say that he is currently Disney’s top choice.

Previously, Christian Bale’s name was rumored for a role in the film but it appears he’s now out of the running.

In what way will this mysterious character mentor Han? Will he teach him how to be a pilot and smuggler? Harrelson is no stranger to playing mentor roles, having done the same for Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games franchise.

But it could be delayed

The Han Solo film already has incredible talent attached, including Donald Glover and Emilia Clarke; Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the team behind The Lego Movie, are directing.

The film is currently scheduled for an early 2018 release but a recent rumor claims the film may be pushed back to December 2018 because of how successful the last two Star Wars movies have been in the same timeframe.

Next up in the Star Wars franchise will be Episode VIII, which is set to come out at the end of this year.
