A fresh trailer for the new Power Rangers trailer dropped this week, and it features an extended look at their Zords.
When the first footage of the new Power Rangers movie hit, it mainly focused on the “teenagers with attitude,” who we see stumble across a mysterious spaceship and gain newfound superpowers. They soon learn that they’ve been chosen to be the new Power Rangers, and become acquainted with the likes of Zordon (Bryan Cranston) and Alpha 5 (Bill Hader).
What was different about the first trailer was it was so self-serious and didn’t stop to acknowledge how absurd it all is. The latest trailer is still pretty dramatic, but it’s a lot more fun, and even throws in a “it’s morphin’ time” for old time’s sake. This is the Power Rangers I grew up watching.
Rita Repusla looks terrifying
I’m still not completely sold on the new look of Rita Repusla (Elizabeth Banks), but there’s no arguing she makes for a great villain. After seeing this newest trailer, I’m hopeful about the movie’s chances of doing well. It’s clear the filmmakers wanted to bring an updated style and tone to the franchise, and introduce a new legion of fans in the process.
Power Rangers is set for a March 24 release.
