“Never tell me the odds” – Han Solo
Production for the standalone Han Solo movie has officially begun, and you can check out the first set image down below.
The news was announced by co-director Chris Miller, who shared an image of of the film’s clapperboard—a device that’s used to assist with synchronizing a movie’s picture and sound. (In our neck of the woods, we snap our fingers to help editors sync up audio before uploading videos to YouTube.)
The clapperboard already features a fun Easter Egg, indicating the relaxed mood on the set. The movie’s working title is Star Wars: Red Cup, which is a shoutout to the red plastic Solo cups every college student has used at least once.
Finally, it begins
Lucasfilm has begun teasing the arrival of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but plenty of work is still being done behind the scenes on other projects. And there could be many more on the way beyond what’s been announced.
“Red Cup,” which will apparently have a “Western feel,” according to Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, is being directed by Chris Miller and Phil Lord, the duo behind The Lego Movie. Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, Emilia Clarke, and Woody Harrelson round out the cast.
The film is currently scheduled to come out on May 25, 2018.
