This modded Nerf blaster looks like a real movie prop

Nerf blasters already look awesome, but their brightly colored designs apparently don’t appeal to Tested’s Adam Savage. So, before gifting the Nerf Longstrike CS-6 to a friend, he decided to mod it into the beauty you see in the gallery below.

The blaster already features one of Nerf’s most complex and detailed designs, but Adam takes it to the next level by giving it a gritty makeover. What was a colorful toy now looks like a prop for a science fiction movie. In other words, it looks in-freakin-credible.

In addition to giving it an exterior makeover, Adam also modded some of the blaster’s guts so it’s able to shoot harder and farther.

Modding the blaster isn’t particularly complex though it does take a lot of work. Adam begins by sanding the blaster so it will better hold onto a new paint scheme, followed by outfitting it with a new spring. He also adds additional attachments so that it looks less like a toy and something that might get you into real trouble.

Where can I buy one?

Nerf makes its blasters bright and colorful for a reason: Because they’re toys. While that’s completely understandable, we still can’t help but pine for Adam’s finished product, which looks like something Tom Cruise would have carried into battle in Edge of Tomorrow.

Unfortunately for all of us, the Longstrike CS-6 has been discontinued, so even if you wanted to mod one, you couldn’t. As for the lucky person who got the modded Nerf blaster as a gift? Well, he posted pictures to his Imgur account late last year, and it looks just as good as you hoped.
