Upon the release of Suicide Squad, one of the primary critiques of the film was Jared Leto’s interpretation of Joker. The bad script didn’t do Leto any favors, but his over-the-top acting wasn’t well-received either. What made things worse were the constant comparisons to Heath Ledger, who won a posthumous Oscar for his portrayal of the Clown Prince of Crime.
Who was better? The answer is obvious. Who would win in a battle? Thanks to a fan film, we have the answer.
YouTube channel Ismahawk made a fan film that puts the two versions against each other, and it’s crazy fun. The Dark Knight anarchist Joker kidnaps Harley Quinn when Suicide Squad’s unhinged Joker interrupts the party.
The production value of this video is really impressive. Ismahawk did a great job of integrating some of the quirky quips of each character. Each actor has spot on make-up and each excel in mimicking the same voice and gestures from the movie versions. From the “Why so serious?” to their respective laughter, each brings elements that made them so iconic and polarizing. Even the wardrobe of the henchmen and the score borrow heavily from the original films.
This is a fun concept
The video is part of Ismahawk’s Minute Match Up series, which pits classic characters against each other. The concept for the series is quite ingenious. Who doesn’t want to see these two respective Jokers pitted up against each other? You can even go further and pit Ben Affleck’s Batman against Christian Bale’s Batman.
Previous Minute Match Up episodes have include battles between different versions of Daredevil, Deadpool and The Flash versus Quicksilver. Check out the video below to see how these Jokers match up.
