Lionel Trains at Toy Fair 2017 – The future is Bluetooth

Lionel Trains has been around since 1900, and a company doesn’t stick around this long if it isn’t adjusting to the latest technologies.

On several of the trains being released by Lionel this year you’re going to have a couple options when it comes to controlling your new toy. While they will come packaged with a traditional remote control, you’re also going to find that you can connect your iOS device to it as well via Bluetooth. (I was assured an Android version is in the works)

This new Bluetooth connectivity is going to give you all of the traditional controls you would expect, but a few extras such as being able to adjust the pitch, to even silencing the chugging sound of the train as it moves around the track.

The app is a free download, although the trains will, of course, still cost you.
