This isn’t a cruel, sick joke: Suicide Squad just won an Oscar for Makeup and Hairstyling. Granted, the film was only up against two other movies—Star Trek Beyond and A Man Called One—but a congratulations is still in order.
Despite being a critical dud, Suicide Squad still had its charm. Makeup and hairstyling just so happened to be one of them, which explains why it was nominated in the first place. Alessandro Bertolazzi, Giorgio Gregorini, and Christopher Nelson accepted the award.
Our feelings about the movie aside, it’s always a challenge to bring beloved characters to life, and the filmmakers (plus crew) certainly succeeded at doing that.
So, let it be known: Suicide Squad is officially an Oscar winner.
