Turns out those TV shows are for the birds. Rovio, maker of Angry Birds, sold its Vancouver-based animation studio (and book publishing biz) to Kaiken Entertainment.
Kaiken, interestingly enough, was just founded by former Rovio CEO Mikael Hed. Hed’s been with the birds before, and Kaiken will work with Rovio to further use the Angry Birds license.
“We are happy to announce this transaction and look forward to a continued partnership with Kaiken in animation series productions and books publishing,” offered Rovio CEO Kati Levoranta in a statement.
Angry Birds isn’t going anywhere anytime soon
This deal with Kaiken sounds like Rovio wants to continue pushing books and TV shows, but they want a third party company to do it for them while they focus on making games. Hed leaves Rovio and forms Kaiken to make this happen.
Don’t worry, Angry Birds fans, you’ll still get your flicks and books.
