Back in 2015, Aziz Ansari’s first original show Master of None debuted on Netflix to rave reviews, and even went on to win a Emmy for its writing. It had been a while since we heard news of a follow up season, but Netflix this week announced the sophomore season will arrive May 12.
The little snippet still delivers the first season’s comedic idiom
Master of None follows Dev Shah, a struggling Indian actor in New York who goes through weird adventures that take inspiration from Aziz Ansari’s own life. Ansari’s parents even had minor roles as Dev’s mom and dad.
At the end of the first season, Dev drops everything after breaking up with his girlfriend Racheal (Noël Wells) and moves to Italy to learn how to cook. The 15-second clip Ansari shared only offers a brief glimpse at Dev and his friend Arnold (Eric Wareheim) riding around on Vespas through the Italian country side.
We still don’t know how long the new season will be (the first season was 10 episodes) or if most of the characters from the first season will return, but we’ll find out soon enough.
