If you purchase a 12-month Xbox Music Pass from Microsoft, the Redmond company will give you either a free Nokia Lumia 520 (AT&T) or Lumia 521 (T-Mobile), depending on which carrier you prefer. The Music Pass Bundle is currently going for just $99, so you’re getting a full year of music streaming goodness and a free device to use it on. The phone will be off-contract, too, so it’s yours to do as you please. Individually the Music Pass and Lumia handsets go for $99, so you’re saving a cool Benjamin just for signing up.
Of course, since neither device has a contract, you’ll need to pay for data on a monthly basis in order to actually use it with your music subscription (or just use it with Wi-Fi). But it’s never bad to get a new smartphone for free, especially one without a contract that you can stow away for use next time you travel abroad. If anything, either Lumia handset would make a nice gift for a friend or family member; you can just keep the Music Pass, which is what you were really after all along.
Microsoft says the deal is valid until Feb. 17 or until supplies run out, so move quick.
