It’s been known for a while that Brie Larson would star in Captain Marvel, a Marvel Studios film slated to hit theaters in 2019. But the studio has been less forthcoming about who might direct the film—until now.

Variety reports Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, the duo behind 2015’s underrated Mississippi Grind, will helm the upcoming movie together. The news come after months of careful and calculated searching from Marvel executives.

“The studio was looking for a unique point of view and they are heading into a new era of films they want to grow and change in a certain way that fits that new environment,” Variety wrote in its report.

Marvel Studios executives reportedly met with the duo a number of times before making a decision, seemingly impressed by where they want to take the character.

It’s unclear how the story of Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel, will unfold, but considering the fantastic new direction Marvel films are headed, we can’t wait to see the final product. Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman, the duo behind Inside Out, are currently writing a script.

This isn’t the first time Marvel Studios has nabbed a directing duo for its films. The Russo brothers directed Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War, and are also on deck to direct the next two Avengers films.

Captain Marvel currently has a release date of March 8, 2019.
