The crown jewel of any comic fan’s collection will surely be this new Spider-Man figure from Hot Toys, which recreates the Marvel Studios/Sony version in incredible detail. You could have fooled me by saying these images were official shots from the movie.
Of course, the 1/6 scale models—there are two different versions—aren’t something you’d buy for a toddler to take to school. Instead, these are designed to be kept in a well-lit glass case and admired from afar. So, in that sense, it’s a toy, but not.
The listing on SideShowToy provides some details on what buyers are getting into:
The latest Spider-Man collectible is crafted in movie accurate quality that features a newly developed masked head sculpt with four pairs of interchangeable eyepieces to create numerous Spider-Man’s expressions. The figure also includes another interchangeable head sculpt featuring the likeness of Tom Holland, a newly developed body, and Spider-Man suit in meticulous tailoring and great detail, a pair of magnetically attachable web-wings, a variety of spider-web shooting effect parts and accessories as well as a dynamic figure stand.
The figure is striking because of its attention detail, but I’m also impressed by its ability to convey personality, as if it’s going to come alive at any moment.
Like I said, there are two versions: a Spider-Man and a Spider-Man Deluxe. According to SideShotToy, the deluxe version comes with an additional school blazer, zip-up hoodie, and Vulture’s helmet.
You can pre-order both now, with shipments estimated to arrive next summer. The regular version goes for $229 and the deluxe version is $251.
