If you plan to stick with Microsoft’s lightweight Windows 10 S operating system on your new Surface Laptop, you’ll be pleased to know that Spotify is now available to download from the Windows Store. It’s identical to the app directly avaialble from the Spotify website.

Alongside the Surface Laptop, Microsoft introduced us to its new Windows 10 S operating system. It looks and feels just like regular Windows 10, but it’s designed to be more efficient for more affordable devices. Microsoft offers an easy upgrade path to Windows 10 Pro, but those who choose not to take advantage of it can only download apps from the Windows Store.

That’s not necessarily bad news. If you cannot download apps from third-party sources, you don’t have to worry about malware and malicious programs. And if you don’t use a lot of apps, you might find everything you need in the Windows Store. Plus, lots of apps that aren’t already available there are on the way, Microsoft says.

One of the names Microsoft promised during its Build conference last month was Spotify — and now the music streaming service has landed on the Windows Store. The app is identical to that directly available from Spotify’s website, and includes all of the features you would expect. The only difference is that future updates will be distributed through the Windows Store.

You don’t need Windows 10 S to use the Windows Store, of course. If you’re running regular Windows, but you want a simpler way to download and redownload apps and updates, you can also obtain software like Spotify from Microsoft’s marketplace. Just follow the source link below to get started.
