Assassin’s Creed is coming to Netflix, when should the series be set?

The reaction to Netflix’s upcoming Castlevania animated series has been so positive that it will be turning to another video game franchise to give the small screen treatment. Assassin’s Creed will be getting an adaptation from the same producer, and he will be bringing the same anime style that he’s using for Castlevania.

No official date or window has been announced yet. All we have is an announcement from Castlevania’s producer Adi Shankar, who shared the news on his Facebook page, saying he’d been contacted by Ubisoft.

I’m happy to let you guys know that I’ve selected my next project! I played the first edition of Assassin’s Creed the year I moved to Los Angeles to pursue my dream. At that moment I knew absolutely no one in the industry and could never have imagined that one day Ubisoft would ask me to take the world of Assassin’s Creed and create an original story set in it as an anime series. If anyone tells you not to follow your passion in life they are wrong.

When should the series take place?

Details are scant, and we guarantee nothing has been written on paper or set in stone yet. Nobody knows which timeframe this will be set in and how it will tie into the game series or the films. We’ll likely have to wait until after Castlevania airs this coming Friday to get some news.

But let’s have a little fun, shall we? If we’re going the anime route, then feudal Japan seems like the best place to start. It’s been a popular choice for many fans of the series, and Ubisoft has yet to tap into the potential. Otherwise, sticking with the Ancient Egpyt theme to give Assassin’s Creed: Origins a boost is a wise idea.

How about yourself? When should the series be set?
