Leaked Jurassic World 2 images show a more practical approach

Jurassic World was a thoroughly entertaining affair when it hit theaters in 2015, but as far as movie quality is concerned, there were areas it could improve upon. Close to the top of that list is the all-CGI dinosaurs that didn’t conjure up the same magic Jurassic Park did once upon a time.

It seems the makers of the upcoming Jurassic World sequel got the memo, and will be incorporating some good old fashioned practical effects into the movie.

Note: There may be some minor spoilers ahead.

Images from the set have started to make their way around the web showing off an animatronic T-Rex. It’s a welcomed inclusion and one that confirmed director J.A. Bayona’s intent to bring back some of the practical effects that made Jurassic Park so great.

The image in question shows off the T-Rex in a cage similar to how it was caged up in The Lost World. In the movie, the cage was used to transport the animals to San Diego from Isla Nublar. We still don’t know many details for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom other than the official movie poster, but this may provide some insight into a plot point of the movie. The dinosaurs may be making their way to a city again.

We’re sure there will be plenty of CGI in the Fallen Kingdom, but if coupled correctly with some practical effects, it’ll look a lot more realistic.
