Deadpool hilariously concedes domestic box office crown to Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman has been the comic book movie darling of 2017, but in 2016, that title belonged to Deadpool. Both embarked on incredible record-breaking box office runs, but Wonder Woman has officially passed the Merc with a Mouth at the domestic box office. Ryan Reynolds took to Twitter to deliver his concession speech on behalf of his alter ego and it is everything we love about Deadpool.

In so many words, Deadpool congratulates Wonder Woman for surpassing it on the domestic box office charts. It’s full of his wry humor that we’ve come to expect from Deadpool. The funny tweet features a snappy caption and Deadpool wearing a Wonder Woman necklace while making a heart with his hand.

Wonder Woman reached $368 million over the weekend, passing Deadpool’s $363 box office take. The Amazon princess is now alone as the 10th highest grossing comic book adaptation movie domestically—and it’s not done yet. Next on the list is Spider-Man 2 ($373 million) and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 ($385 million). If it continues at its current pace, Wonder Woman has a shot of becoming only the seventh comic book movie to surpass the $400 million mark at the domestic box office.

Ryan Reynolds has been very supportive of the success of his fellow comic book compatriots. Earlier this year, he wasted no time in celebrating Logan’s impressive run and sterling critical reception. It’s good to see the success hasn’t gone to Deadpool’s head.

Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins didn’t waste any time in returning the favor, thanking Reynolds on Twitter as well.
