You know what the problem is with superheroes these days? They all take themselves so seriously. With the surge in superhero flicks in the past few years, it was inevitable that the perfect cure for all this grimness would resurface. He’s back, he’s still nigh-invulnerable, and he still doesn’t suck blood. He’s The Tick, and his first trailer is here following last year’s pilot episode.

Destiny! Adventure! Blood Loss!

For being a weird, off-kilter superhero comedy, The Tick has a long history on the small screen. The character, who originated in comics back in 1986, first popped up on television as a cartoon on Fox in the mid-90s. The cartoon lasted three seasons and is fondly remembered by fans. The big blue guy made his first jump to live action in 2001, with actor Patrick Warburton stepping into the suit. That show was shorter lived and doesn’t have quite the same level of adoration, but it still has its fans.

Now, British actor Peter Serafinowicz, a name I can totally spell without Googling, is stepping into the suit. Amazon debuted this new take on the character back in August 2016, bringing in tons of attention from fans that ultimately got the show greenlit. The trailer looks like it continues to fit the spirit of the character, and we can’t wait to see how it lampoons modern superhero movies and shows. Also worth noting – Serafinowicz is sporting a slightly-more-human and slightly-less-buggy suit this time around, as compared to the pilot.

The Tick is set to debut next month, just a bit more than a year after the pilot, with the first season going live on Amazon Prime Video on August 25.
