The production of the second season for the Netflix-Marvel series Luke Cage is underway, and the first episode will feature a very special director—Lucy Liu.
Liu is best known as an actress for her roles in the Kill Bill and Charlie’s Angels movies. She isn’t necessarily known as a director, but she actually has plenty of experience. She has directed four episodes of her CBS Sherlock Holmesseries , Elementary, and an episode of the now defunct USA series, Graceland.
She is now taking her talents to Harlem.
“What a thrill to collaborate with Marvel and Netflix, two industry titans, who paint our world with inspiring stories and beguiling characters,” said Liu of the opportunity. “It is such an honor to work with such a passionate and fearless team.”
Few details are known about the second season of Luke Cage. The next time we will see Cage is in the Netflix-Marvel series mash-up The Defenders in August. It will feature all the Marvel characters we’ve seen on Netflix—Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. It will be available to stream on Netflix starting August 18.
There’s no word on whether Liu will direct more episodes beyond the season premiere.
