When the first teaser for the remake of It debuted earlier this year, it was a great re-introduction to the Stephen King classic. The teases landed so well because it kept Pennywise’s almost completely hidden. Now that the movie’s official trailer is out, it gives us our best look yet at the diabolical clown.
The beginning of the trailer quickly introduces us to the plot of the movie: many people have been going missing in this little town called Derry. But then the tone quickly shifts to the reason the town has been turned upside down—a clown has been terrorizing people, most notably children.
About forty seconds into the trailer, we finally get a close look at Pennywise. It’s the same scene seen in the teaser, which shows a child named George losing his paper boat by a drain. This is where Pennywise appears.
From here, we see many fast cuts of action that show Pennywise doing his thing. The trailer also seems to hint at a possible conspiracy.
It looks like it’ll live up to the hype, judging from the trailer. The movie is in theaters September 8.
