Despite some quick backtracking on his part, it appears George Lucas has confirmed the return of Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher in Star Wars Episode VII.
While speaking with Bloomberg Businessweek, Star Wars creator George Lucas was asked whether he had informed the original trio of actors about the deal before it closed. He replied that, “We had already signed Mark and Carrie and Harrison—or we were pretty much in final stages of negotiation. So I called them to say, ‘Look, this is what’s going on.’ ” After realizing what he had said, Lucas added, “Maybe I’m not supposed to say that. I think they want to announce that with some big whoop-de-do, but we were negotiating with them.” To confuse things even further, he went on to add, “I won’t say whether the negotiations were successful or not.”
At this point it has already been leaked that all three of them returning with Carrie Fisher having bluntly said she was as recently this week, although she later denied it. And Harrison Ford was heavily rumored just a few weeks ago.
What isn’t known is how large the roles would be for the famous trio. It could just be a few scenes to set up a new storyline, or they could be sprinkled through out the series. We’ll have to wait and see, but it does indeed look like the Millenium Falcon will be taking to Hypserspace once again.
