If you haven’t used BitTorrent in a while, you might want to consider paying it a visit again. Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke released his album Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes as a BitTorrent Bundle on Friday, offering up eight new songs online.
Downloading the new album is insanely simple and only costs $6. You can even listen to the first track for free to decide if you like it before committing to anything else. Once you’re ready to pay, you can sign in with PayPal or use your personal credit card info. As soon as you’re approved, you should be able to download Thom Yorke’s latest work in just a few minutes – or seconds, depending on how quick your connection is.
This isn’t the first time the Radiohead singer has experimented with new ways to sell his music. Back in 2007 the band released In Rainbows online with a pay-what-you-want model for digital downloads. By releasing the new album through BitTorrent, Yorke takes things a step further. He notes that the site’s peer-to-peer file sharing means he doesn’t need to spend any money to put the record on an online server.
Is this the future of music distribution? Who knows, but for now you can grab Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes and check out the first track for free by hitting the source link below.
