Are you up to date with all things Stark and Lannister? Whoa! We couldn’t believe it when…

Just kidding! Would I spoil the action like that? Hecks no. But if you’re not up to date on Game of Thrones, you have two days before the third-season debut on Sunday, March 31. There are several place where you can get your Westeros on, such as:

  • iTunes: Seasons 1 and 2 are available at iTunes in HD for $4 per episode or $39 for the full season. If you can settle for SD, the price is cheaper, at $3 and $29, respectively.
  • Amazon: Like iTunes, Amazon offers Seasons 1 and 2 in HD ($4/episode, $39/full season) or SD ($3, $29), but they only offer three extra featurettes.
  • HBO Go: Seasons 1 and 2 free with subscription. Extras include sneak peeks, interactive features, maps, and guide to houses.
  • Xfinity TV: Seasons 1 and 2 free with subscription. Extras include sneak peeks and clips.

And don’t forget HBO’s free video podcasts (via iTunes). These cover video recaps of episodes, key scenes from previous seasons, commentaries, plus inside looks at the making of the show.

There’s even more good news for lowly basic-only cable subscribers: You can indulge the battle for the Iron Throne — along with other HBO content — for free! Comcast and Time Warner Cable are both offering free previews of HBO this weekend. If it works the way other promotions have in the past, it might just be a matter of tuning into the premium channel for some unscrambled goodness. (Note: Comcast’s “Watchathon” gives customers access to both HBO and Showtime this weekend.)

If you haven’t watched GoT yet, this is the perfect time to dive in and see what all the fuss is about. The show, based on George R.R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” novels, has some rabid fans out there — so much so that the author had to make apologies for not writing swiftly enough to appease the masses.

“So I need to write faster,” said Martin. “The last two books took a really long time, so I’m hoping this one [the Winds of Winter] will go a little faster. But I make no promises. I found out long ago that when you look at the overall task, the cathedral you have to build, it looks so daunting that you just give up and sit down and play a video game.” Indeed. Those poor novel fans. After book four, “A Feast for Crows,” it took another six years for “A Dance With Dragons” to come out.

Well, at least fans of the TV show don’t have to wait any longer for the new season to commence. If you’re chomping at the bit, waiting for Sunday to arrive, here’s a little something to tie you over — the extended Season Three trailer. Enjoy.
