Despite looking like a shoe-in for deeper integration, Fitbit said it has no plans to support Apple’s new HealthKit platform. That might come as a surprise to Apple, as Fitbit was shown off during the Cupertino company’s announcement at WWDC in June. To be fair, official partners weren’t mentioned during Apple’s keynote, though Fitbit was expected to help usher in the new initiative.

Fitbit hasn’t released an official statement to the press just yet, though the company has been pretty active in its forums.

We do not currently have plans to integrate with HealthKit… It is an interesting new platform and we will watch as it matures, looking for opportunities to improve the Fitbit experience. At the moment, we’re working on other exciting projects that we think will be valuable to users.

Because Fitbit already offers its own ecosystem of data collection, there doesn’t appear to be any incentive for the fitness tracking company to integrate with Apple’s software. Down the road, however, that could change. Fitbit straight up asks customers for feedback regarding Apple’s platform: “What do you imagine HealthKit integration would entail and what do you expect to get out of it?”

HealthKit is still a young platform, so integration could definitely be something we see in the future. For now, you’ll have to content yourself with integration from services like MyFitnessPal, UP and MapMyRun, among others.
