Oscar award-winning actor and part-time Batman Christian Bale will play Steve Jobs in the forthcoming biopic from Sony. Screenwriter Aaron Sorkin confirmed the news during an interview with Bloomberg, and he says Bale didn’t even need an audition for the part.

“We needed the best actor on the board in a certain age range and that’s Chris Bale,” Sorkin told Emily Chang on Studio 1.0. “I couldn’t be more excited… he really is a phenomenal actor.”

Instead of an audition, Bale secured the part during a meeting. He will have an incredible amount of dialog in the movie, Sorkin reveled — “more words to say in this movie than most people have in three movies combined.” He added, “there isn’t a scene or frame that [Bale] isn’t in.”

Sorkin is somewhat famous for his dialog-dense movies. In fact, some reports say that actors in The Social Network were instructed to speak faster because the script was so long, and they had to make an effort to reduce the running time of the movie.

However, this one will consist of just three scenes — each around 30 minutes long — that are set backstage before some of Jobs’ most significant keynotes. Sorkin has already finished the script, and the movie is expected to hit cinemas in late 2015.

Bale was also the first choice to play Jobs for David Fincher, who was originally drafted to direct the movie before he was replaced by Danny Boyle over alleged “aggressive demands for compensation and control,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Recent reports have claimed that Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Bradley Cooper and Ben Affleck were also considered for the leading role.
